Limits1-1 helps students explore and better understand the definition of a limit of a function of one variable. The student can enter the formula for a function and set the values for delta, epsilon, and the centers of the delta and epsilon neighborhoods. Two number lines are shown--one for the domain and one for the range. The student can move a pointer along the domain number line and watch the corresponding value of the function move along the range number line, checking to see if all numbers in the delta neighborhood give values in the epsilon neighborhood. A help window carefully takes the student through a simple example.
Limits1-1 is used for individual student exploration at Allegheny College.
